RC nitro cars run like the real thing --discover RC car power today!

RC nitro cars are exciting to race since they are very fast and more like real racecars. An RC car allows you to race a small car right from the palm of your own hand.

Radio controlled cars are hot collectors items. RC nitro cars are even more fun to race because they run really fast. RC vehicles include cars, trucks and even boats.

Radio controlled cars use various types of power sources like gasoline or electricity. Read on to learn more about the benefits of racing RC nitro cars, or visit our buyers guide to find merchants who carry inexpensive, quality RC cars and more.

Nitro Power

Some RC cars and trucks are powered by electricity and some by gas. A Nitro car is distinctively different than an RC car because of the different power source.

Nitro cars run on nitromethane fuel mixed with oil, and are sometimes referred to as "glow engines". To make a nitro car run, you need to heat glow plugs which fuels the fire that starts the engine.

Some nitro cars use an electrical starter to get the engine roaring and smoking.

RC Systems

Radio controlled systems involve technology that allows you to race nitro cars and trucks without having messy wires attached to the vehicle.

There are three parts to radio systems:

  • Transmitter
  • Receiver
  • Servos

Transmitters are handheld control devices that allow you to choose the direction and speed of your RC car. Transmitters come in two forms, pistol grip and two stick.

The receiver stored in the nitro car is powered by several batteries. Unlike electrically run cars, batteries help the nitro car receive the commands from the transmitter and send them to the servos.

Servos are the plugs in the receiver that ultimately control the speed and direction of the RC car or truck.
