RC HobbiesIf you enjoy an RC hobby, you may want to collect more than the model cars, trucks and boats. Go online to find the components you need to create your own RC mini. Before building your own models, you'll need to know more about parts like:
To start you off, let’s take a look at the components that make up the body of the car.
RC PartsBefore an RC model is fully pieced together, it’s made up of several components that work together to create the body of the car or vehicle. In an RC model you will find a molded body part, tires or tread, wheels, an electric or gas engine and molded wings or wooden choppers if you’re building an aircraft. You will also find a handheld controller and batteries. Once you have put together the basic body structure, you can then add details and features like paint, logos, bumpers and other unique and intricate details. Visit our Buyers Guide
RC TransmitterThe remote control radio and the transmitter are all one part. With your handheld RC you control:
A handheld remote control comes in two different versions, the pistol grip and the two stick. Equipped with several control options, an RC transmitter will send commands on frequency waves, 27MHz or 40 MHz, to the receiver in your vehicle.
Receiver & ServosThe receiver in your RC vehicle may need one or more batteries to run. Once the receiver gets the commands from the transmitter, it sends them on to the servos in the vehicle. The servos then translate your handheld remote control commands into direct action, moving your vehicle or aircraft at any speed and in whichever direction that you want. The receivers and servos in your RC truck or car will be different, according to the type of engine that it has.
RC EnginesYou can find two engine types available in RC models. The electrical engine and the gas powered engine. The electrical engine has been around since the first RC was invented but it has advanced in technology. It now offers lightweight action, clean and easy controls, and safe entertainment for your children. The gas powered engine has become popular due to its realistic touch. The fuel gives the RC vehicle more power and possibly more speed. The downside to using a gas engine is that it can be messy and dangerous. An electrical engine is a good choice for beginners and eventually you may want to try out the gas powered engine. If you collect RC vehicles then why not try both and judge for yourself.
